I’m sure if you follow me on Instagram or on Facebook it’ll be no surprise to learn that I was in Colorado for the first half of last week. If you didn’t see my posts don’t worry because I’ll be posting all about it on the blog soon! Today thought I share with you pictures of the reason I went to Colorado in the first place…an engagement session for one of my couples!
I am beyond thrilled I had the opportunity to make it out and photograph Rachael and Michael’s engagement photos! We literally spent all of Easter Sunday driving around the Rockies doing their photos! I had such an early flight out of Akron at 5:20AM, and arrived in Denver around 9:20AM MDT. The night before Emily and I shot a wedding, and I was now running on only 3 hours of sleep! Rachael picked me up from the airport and we were off to shoot! We drove about an hour and half into the mountains to Rocky Mountain National Park.
I was beyond blown away when I saw the mountain ranges up close. For over an hour you drive through smaller mountains, and before you know it you turn a corner and BAM there they are! It was truly a breathtaking experience, and made me so thankful to be there! I first stop was Bear Lake. Unfortuantely, it had been so cold in the mountains that the lake was frozen over. Despite the fact we couldn’t see the clear blue water, we still had a jaw dropping background that you can see in the pictures below!
The rest of the session we made our way a little down the mountains to another lake that had another amazing view, and thankfully wasn’t frozen! At this point I was afraid we were going to lose the sun before we got to shoot at the Flat Irons where they got engaged last year, so we hurried up and made our way there. The timing and light was PERFECT! We couldn’t have had asked for perfect weather as it was about 70 degrees and sunny the entire day. We ended the shoot in downtown Boulder, an grabbed an amazing dinner. This was by far one of my most favorite sessions, and Rachael and Michael owned the shoot! Enjoy!
They’re seriously the most fun!
How amazing is that view?!!
